In 2014, I reached a point of complete burnout.

Between the demands of my corporate career, planning my wedding, and supporting my father-in-law through his battle with cancer, life felt overwhelming. My health began to suffer, and my asthma worsened. It was during this difficult season that I started asking myself a deeper question:

Was there something more meaningful I was meant to do?

A year earlier, in 2013, I had enrolled in a professional hair and makeup course. My intention was simple, that is to gain the skills and confidence to serve as a volunteer makeup artist in my Buddhist organization.

What I didn’t realise then was that this small step would quietly pave the way for my future.

In 2014, I made a bold decision. I left my corporate job, got married, and began freelancing as a makeup artist. Soon after, I joined a bridal studio as a resident artist. The journey was not easy… early mornings, long nights, tears, sweat, and relentless hard work.

But it was also deeply fulfilling.

I had the privilege of beautifying countless brides and being part of one of the most meaningful days of their lives. Many of those brides have remained dear friends to this day.

Four years later, I opened my own small makeup studio, a space I could finally call my own.

Then in 2020, the world changed.

When Covid disrupted the industry, I pivoted to teaching online makeup classes. What I discovered was unexpected joy in empowering women with the skills and knowledge to enhance their natural beauty and show up with greater confidence.

After the pandemic, my husband Eddie and I co-founded Terra Headshots, a makeover and photography studio dedicated to helping professionals present themselves at their best. With the support of our community, our small studio grew into a space where we’ve photographed hundreds, even thousands of professionals, from teachers and consultants to business owners and industry leaders.

Today, with over 12 years of experience as a hair and makeup artist and now as a certified Personal Colour Director, my purpose has become clearer than ever.

My mission is to help women rediscover their confidence through colour, style, and beauty.

Not by chasing trends or unrealistic standards often seen on social media.

Because I believe beauty is not one-size-fits-all.

It’s not about changing yourself to fit what’s out there.
It’s about discovering what truly fits you.

And with my team, I’m here to guide you on that journey , that is to help you look and feel like the best version of yourself.

Your proudest moment/ story as a HMUA

When I inspired one of my brides to pick up makeup skills and she herself became a professional makeup artist too, now helping other women to discover the beauty they had in them all along!

What’s something no one knows about you?

My very first entrepreneurship stint started in Primary school when me and my friends offered to help kids buy their lunch and deliver it to their table for a fee. We even did up our own menu and made quite a bit of pocket money! Our thriving business could have grown had we not been stopped by a teacher.

What did you do before your current role?

I was a hawker at my parent’s stall in the industrial area.

Your proudest moment/ story as a HMUA

I once did makeup for a bride who engaged me after she saw someone recommend me in a FB group for brides to be. When I did her bridal makeup, we immediately connected as both of us are new mums!

She has been recommending my service to her friends since then, and 4 years later, we still bump into each other as we stay quite near! Seeing both our kids grow up made us feel like old friends instead of a client-vendor relationship.

What’s something no one knows about you?

Other than doing makeup I actually really love cooking and cleaning, throwing things is another way to destress for me!

What did you do before your current role?

I was a bridal stylist at a bridal boutique.

Your proudest moment/ story as a HMUA

One of my proudest moments was working with a client who wasn’t particularly excited about having her makeup done, as she said she’s not the ‘main character’.

After the session, seeing the boost in her confidence and the way she looked at herself differently was so special. In that moment, I felt truly grateful to help a woman love herself even more.

What’s something no one knows about you?

I’m actually very introverted.
